Aluminum conductor steel-reinforced cable (ACSR cable) is a specific type of high-capacity, high-strength stranded cable typically used in overhead power lines. The outer strands are aluminum, chosen for its excellent conductivity, low weight and low cost. The center strand is of steel for the strength required to support the weight without stretching the aluminum due to its ductility. This gives the cable an overall high tensile strength.
ACSR cables are available in several specific sizes, with multiple center steel wires and correspondingly larger quantities of aluminum conductors. For example, an ACSR cable with 72 aluminum conductors that requires a core of 7 steel conductors will be called 72/7 ACSR cable.
The higher resistance of the steel core is of little consequence to the transmission of electricity in large diameter conductors since it is located below the skin depth where only a small amount of AC current flows.
All Aluminum Alloy Conductor (AAAC cable) is made from aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy of high electrical conductivity containing enough magnesium silicide to give it better mechanical properties after treatment. These conductors are generally made out of aluminum alloy 6201. AAAC CONDUCTOR has a better corrosion resistance and better strength to weight ratio and improved electrical conductivity than ACSR CONDUCTOR on equal diameter basis.
AAAC (All Aluminum Alloy Conductor) referred to have higher strength but lower conductivity than pure aluminum. Being lighter, alloy conductors can sometimes be used to advantage in place of the more conventional ACSR. Having lower breaking loads than the latter, their use becomes particularly favorable when ice and win loadings are low.
The standards applied to AAAC cable in different region are BS EN50182, DIN 48201 Part 6, BS 3242, ASTM B399.
All Aluminum Conductor (AAC cable) is made from aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy of high electrical conductivity containing magnesium (0.6-0.9%) & silicon (0.5-0.9%) to give it better mechanical properties after treatment. AAC conductors are generally made out of aluminum alloy 6201 (minimum conductivity is 54%). AAC conductor has a better corrosion resistance and better strength to weight ratio and improved electrical conductivity than ACSR conductor on equal diameter basis.

Without any hesitation and delay, Hotlink engineering team take this job and figured out whole set of product drawings within two weeks, and get approval in early Mar. The second key step, seperate tooling drawings for each components are at hand after only two weeks and tooling development was kicked off at 28th.Mar.
By the end of April, first trial of Jaw tooling was taken 4 days with engineering day and night hard jobs, with times of careful study and revisements to make it close to perfect. On 20th. May, as scheduled, the climax of whole process come on the stage: second trial of Jaws with all other concerned components was conducted and key parameters tension loading testing turn out to be better than standard (rate KN) and even our own expectations! On 2010, after a full and thorough marketing survey, Horizon Holding Group Ltd decided to extend their business into Steel Wire Connector Manufacturing. Consequently, Hotlink Hardware was founded starting with the products of QuickVise / QuickLink. Even there have been some well-known the brands, such as WireVise / WireLink, existing in the market, we believe with the Engineering / Manufacturing capabilities of Hotlink Group, with the labor and material resources of the mainland China, we should be able to provide a better or at least another reasonable option to our clients. One year later, we started the cooperation with Thomas & Betts, a global electrical solution company with developing the Automatic Splice / Deadend for ACSR / AAAC Aluminum Conductors. Then we succeeded in the Automatic Splice / Deadend for ACSR #2 and #4 conductors. The finalized design were qualified and tested by Tomas & Betts per ANSI C119 - 4.
One thing needs to be highlighted here is Hotlink completed the product development independently and owns the whole design. For example, the performance of the liquid wax being used inside of the Splice / Deadend is critical to the electrical and mechanical connection. And most of our competitors are using the wax made by certain chemical companies. To achieve a better and reliable performance, Hotlink was cooperating with the Chemical School of SCUT and developed our own wax with better inoxidizability and lubricity.
After completed the Automatic Splice / Deadend for ACSR / AAAC #2 and #4 conductors, Hotlink did not stop, but continued extending the product line into bigger wire range. And that’s how the Hotlink product Lines come to.
